Artists DoIT course is on again! Deadline for applications is 8th September. GET IN TOUCH!!!!

Are you an artist or creative, unemployed or working less than 8 hours per week?

Do you have little or no online presence and would like to develop your digital media skills and promote yourself better?

Are you interested in sharing knowledge and being part of a creative learning network?

DO I.T. is a free introductory training course run by Community Arts North West (CAN) aimed at artists & creatives who have little or no online profile and presence, are unemployed or working less than 8 hours per week.

What will I learn?
You'll learn how to create your own website using Wordpress, how to use social media effectively and introductory tools for working with graphics, photography, audio and video. The first half of the course will be structured learning followed by a creative project in the second half of the course.

What software will I learn to use?
Most of the software you'll be learning will be free and open source so that you can carry on using it after the course finishes. For example, Gimp for photo editing and Inkscape for graphic design.

Am I eligible to apply?
This training is part-financed by the European Union, via the European Social Fund, with the aim of helping disadvantaged artists and creatives into employment. Priority will be given to participants from culturally diverse backgrounds, refugees, women, people aged 50 and over, people with a disability and other disadvantaged groups.

To qualify for this training, you'll need to be an artist or creative who is 19 years old or over, resident within Greater Manchester and eligible to work within the UK.

When and where will Do I.T. take place?
DO I.T. will take place every Wednesday starting on Wednesday 1st October 2014 and ends on Wednesday 25th March 2015The first 12 weeks up to Christmas will be structured learning followed by a 6 week project and the opportunity to use the digital resources at CAN from January to March 2015.
The training will take place at Community Arts North West (CAN), Green Fish Resource Centre, 46-50 Oldham Street, Manchester M4 1LE. You'll attend a morning or afternoon workshop depending on your level of experience.

Selection will be based on the strength of your creative work and how well you can demonstrate the training will help you gain employment.

When is the deadline?
The deadline is Monday 8 September 2014

We'll let you know if you've been successful by Friday 12 September. Enrollment for the training will be on Tuesday 16 September.
