'My Blocks' youth project getting young peoples views on how they want their area to look using Minecraft!

The Swedish have come up with an ingenious way of engaging communities in restoring broken down housing estates, or at least I think it is. I've never really got the idea of Minecraft. You build stuff, you smash stuff, you build more stuff.....but whats the point? Just give me a good FPS or Driving game any day!

The 'Million Programme' was set up in the 60's and 70's to solve a housing crisis but now, years later, the housing that was built to stop a crisis, is in crisis. It needs renovating but since 25% of Swedes are affected by this, its a MASSIVE project. This is where Minecraft comes in. It is being used as a tool to engage the communities in the restoration of their areas, giving them a chance to join in with the planning and redevelopment. Check out the video below for more.

This is a brilliant idea, especially if it works and everyone really gets a say in how the areas are changed and fixed! Some of the ideas are obviously more than a little mental but then, even the craziest things can sometimes lead onto great ideas. To find out more, check out the blog which has more in-depth descriptions of the whole project and how it works.
